The Difference Between Yoga and Pilates

What's the difference?

I get asked a lot about the differences between the two. While they both are similar, they both have different functions.

Pilates centres more on core strength, body control, muscle toning and lengthening. The pace is a lot quicker with a low impact, more controlled session. While still using breath work, you are moving your arms while engaging your core. 

Yoga focuses on alignment, flexibility, balance, and building endurance while holding a pose for a longer period of time as well as breath work. Yoga classes are flow of poses during a class. 

Both are great to add into your workout routine.
